Description

Cooper's ideal home

Cooper is a gorgeous golden Labrador, with all the energy and enthusiasm that you’d expect from a 1 year old. He’s super smart, loves his training, and is hopeful to find a family who have just as much desire to teach him new skills, as he does to learn! Cooper is an energetic lad who would benefit from channelling his breeds special ability e.g. through gundog classes. While Cooper is lots of fun to be around, he’s also sensitive at times, particularly with strangers, and can become overwhelmed when in unfamiliar situations. When he’s having these big feelings, Cooper can resort to grabbing or humping. We feel that he would be best suited to an adult-only home, with patient adopters who can provide him with a calm and predictable routine. He will also need to be the only pet at home and would benefit from ongoing training to support with his doggy-social skills. He’s a strong chap when he wants to get to something exciting (i.e. rabbits, or squirrels!) so will need adopters who are confident in managing him physically.

Could you be Cooper's perfect match?

Walking in the quiet countryside is one of Cooper’s most-loved pastimes, and he is especially happy if there’s a blackberry bush for him to pick from. He travels well in the car, which is great if needing to drive him to the peaceful walks that he prefers. Whilst in our care, Cooper’s carers have been working with him on ‘gundog’ style training, which encourages him to utilise his natural breed traits. He absolutely adores this, so would love for his new family to continue this for him once he’s home. Cooper LOVES his food and enjoys eating in food-based enrichment toys like Kongs, licky-mats, and destruction boxes. He’s also a big fan of his toys but can get overstimulated if the game becomes too exciting. Calmer, controlled games are best for him! If you would like more information about adopting Cooper, who is currently living in a foster home, or would like our team’s help to find your pawfect match, you are very welcome visit us in person at our rehoming centre, in Shoreham. We are open between 12pm and 4pm every day, except for Wednesdays and Fridays when we are closed.

Labrador Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Labrador Retriever.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
